Amazing contrast of colors and textures! I have tramped all over Nevada, and somehow missed these dunes at Amargossa. I will add it to my list.

These are very small, but located in Ash Meadows, Home of the devils hole pupfish. But pretty cool.

Very beautiful! Have you ever walked barefoot in a dune?

I have, however I don't Think I would walk in this one barefoot. There is an awful lot of sharp needle like spines on these plants.
That could ruin ones day real quick...LOL
They do make for some pretty cool photos, but when we head out for these dunes (Ash Meadows) in Amargossa Nevada, we always have to think about protecting our legs.
In the next week or so we headed for some other Dunes a little farther North that are even more incredible, (so I hear)...LOL

You're right! Walking on one of those could be bad!

It's smart to think about protecting your legs. A lot of people don't think about that and just head out with shorts (which isn't bad depending on where you're headed).

I hope you have a fun time on your next trip! :)

I so agree, I have been in some pretty ruff areas, and paid the price. So now I do think of things like that..
